Main duties of the job
Our 8 (5.2 WTE) GPs enjoy working with oursupportive and friendly staff and 10,700 patients as part of a close-knitcommunity. Llandrindod Wells has beenvoted one of the happiest places to live in Wales and we are in a greatlocation for enjoying the great outdoors.
We have a modern single-site surgery,recently extended, and a nearby thriving community hospital with minor injuryunit where we have inpatient beds and help run the dialysis unit.
We are a training practice for medical andphysician associate students and are looking forward to our first GP registrarin August. We also have a GP Fellowjoining the practice.
We operate a total triage system, usingAccurx, to manage our workload, and sessionshave a mix of telephone and face to face appointments.
About us
Our team includes experienced practice nurses, ANP, paramedic, pharmacy support, MSK physiotherapist, visiting specialist nurses, all supported by a strong admin team and HCAs.
We work closely with the district nurses and extended MDT with virtual ward and catered practice lunch held weekly.

We offer a full contraceptive service as well as minor surgery.
We have good quality OOH cover from Shropdoc and there is the opportunity to work for them if so desired.

Job responsibilities
Job summary:
The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
Clinical responsibilities:
* In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
* Covering the local Community Hospital Ward, Minor Injuries Unit during working hours.
* Taking a share in the on-call duty doctor rota for urgent care.
* Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
* Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
* Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
* Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols
* Providing counselling and health education
* Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
* Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
* Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)
* Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
* In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Qualifications
* Fully Qualified GP eligible to work in General Practice in the NHS.
* MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
* National Performers List Registration.
* General Practitioner Register under article 10 of the General and Specialist Medical Practice Order 2003.
* Not subject to suspension under section 41A of the Medical Act 1983.
* Clear DBS report.
* Eligible to independently practice in the United Kingdom.
* Post graduate qualification or special interest in minor surgery, diabetes, Child health, Contraception, ring pessaries, learning disabilities or teaching
