This post is for a LAS (ST3+) Senior Clinical Fellow to work in Geriatric Medicine based at Southport Hospital. This is a fixed term position to cover a period of maternity leave until August 2025, offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated doctor to join a dynamic, rapidly expanding team delivering multidisciplinary acute care in Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals. The post holder will be required to work full-time and participate in a 1:13 on-call rota at Registrar level.
Clinical Responsibilities
* Participate in the initial assessment and management of patients (MDT) supervising more junior members of the team.
* Lead inpatient ward rounds to ensure the ongoing clinical management of patients is appropriate and support the discharge of patients to a place of safety in a timely manner.
* Participate in or lead the acute take, providing senior clinical decisions with the support of consultant clinicians.
* Contribute to the Medical Emergency Team and lead cardiac arrest calls.
* Contribute to GIM/medical specialty clinics.
* Liaise with other members of the clinical team and other specialties.
* Advise junior trainees and ANPs about the management of patients.
* Develop skills in managing the ward to avoid unnecessary patient delays and maintain good clinical care for all patients.
Due to the short-term nature of the role/service demand, the successful candidate must hold full registration with the GMC and have existing right to live and work in the UK at the time of application. Candidates who are not GMC registered or do not hold existing right to live and work in the UK at the time of application will not progress through the shortlisting stage.
