Alexander Steele is partnering with an exciting food manufacturer to strengthen their engineering team. They are seeking an Engineering Supervisor for their site nestled in the picturesque Scottish countryside.
The Engineering Supervisor is tasked with overseeing daily maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting for factory equipment You will play a key role in overseeing engineering operations within the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector.
The ideal candidate will lead a team of engineers and technicians, ensuring the efficient and safe operation of all food processing and packaging machinery.

Working Hours
* 40 hours per week (Mon – Fri, day shift)
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the engineering team to meet operational targets and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
* Oversee contractors for maintenance and project work, with occasional weekend availability required on an ad-hoc basis.
* Work closely with the Engineering Planner to coordinate scheduled maintenance, corrective actions, and weekend tasks.
* Plan and execute maintenance activities in alignment with operational and production requirements.
* Manage and report on priority issues during daily and weekly operational reviews.
* Offer hands-on support for breakdowns and repairs as necessary.
* Coach and train engineering staff on specialized tasks and procedures.
* Conduct root cause analysis for equipment breakdowns and recurring production issues.
* Manage team expectations and performance during shifts.
* Develop and implement maintenance strategies, procedures, and methods for food processing and packaging equipment.
* Lead innovation and improvement projects to boost production efficiency and product quality.
* Oversee budgets, procurement, and inventory management of engineering parts and equipment.
Experience and Qualifications:
* Qualified Engineer (Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification).
* Experience in a food manufacturing environment.
* Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems in food processing equipment.
* Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
* Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
