Required for immediate start – a 1:1 teaching assistant to join our friendly, supportive and highly successful school. This is a temporary, full-time position, linked to High Needs Funding. This is a split role and will involve working with one child in the morning, and another in the afternoon.
We are looking for a kind and caring individual to work 1:1 with a child in Year 3 and a child in Year 4. We are looking for someone who is flexible in order to fill this unique role. Experience of working with children with special educational needs is desirable, and ideally experience of working with children with ADHD and ASD. The successful candidate needs to show enthusiasm for the role, as well as being patient and proving they have the skills to help these children feel comfortable at school, enabling them to fulfil their potential. We require someone who works well within a team and who can use their initiative to help support individual needs.
The ideal candidate will:
1. Have knowledge or experience working with children and young people with SEND (especially those with ADHD and ASD).
2. Have the energy and enthusiasm to provide personalised learning experiences to children with SEND.
3. Have a calm, patient and encouraging manner, with an ability to make learning fun.
4. Have the ability to be self-motivated and manage time effectively in order to maximise children’s learning time.
5. Be flexible and willing to support the child in a variety of situations, possibly including on the playground at lunch time.
It is essential that the applicant has good literacy/numeracy skills and should preferably hold a teaching assistant qualification.
