The School Counsellor will work at Tameside Alternative Provision Academy and will support the emotional, psychological, and social well-being of pupils aged (typically in Key Stage 3 and 4) by providing a safe and confidential environment for them to discuss and work through challenges. The counsellor will work as part of our multi-disciplinary Therapeutic Team that spans two multi-academy trusts, collaborating to deliver services across our schools. You will also work closely with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure the overall development of the child and create a supportive, relational inclusive school culture. You will also contribute to the Trust’s training offer for schools, promoting relational, trauma-informed approaches to working with children. Previous experience of working within an education setting with students in a supporting role is essential to contribute towards a positive learning culture, which promotes success and personal well-being.
Tameside Alternative Provision Academy is a Key Stage 2-4 Provision, committed to the education of pupils permanently excluded from school, as well as others who have special educational and medical needs. The KS3 and KS4 facilities were purpose built in 2012 under the Building Schools for the Future programme and offer outstanding opportunities for further development.
