Geotechnical Engineer in Training

This role will be based in Vaughan, ON.
Your role within the team:
* Coordination and execution of field programs, including intrusive investigations such as drilling and test pitting, locate requests, road permit applications, etc.
* Complete installation of geotechnical instrumentation including standpipe piezometers, vibrating wire piezometers, and slope inclinometers.
* Supervision of subcontractors and subconsultants during project execution.
* Preparation of technical reports, including documentation of field activities and methods; evaluation and interpretation of field observations, laboratory analytical data, geological/ hydrogeological conditions; and preparation of conclusions and recommendations.
* Maintaining current knowledge of applicable provincial and federal environmental regulations and technical guidance.
* Communicate effectively with other staff within the G&M team.
* Contribute to the development of competitive proposals and work plans.
* Understand materials testing objectives to support geotechnical investigation and design recommendations.
* Provide guidance and troubleshooting for geotechnical quality control testing and performance of earthworks.
* Some projects and sites may be in other parts of the province, and you may be required to travel for site inspections, site investigations and construction projects.

The ideal candidate:
* Bachelor’s or advanced degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, geoscience, or science.
* Eligible for registration as an Engineer-in-Training or Geoscientist-in-Training.
* At least one (1) year of relevant industry experience, since graduation, in geotechnical engineering experience in Southern Ontario.
* At least one (1) year of geotechnical/environmental drilling experience in Ontario.
* Proven experience in field project execution, supervision and coordination of subcontractors, data management, data review and interpretation, technical report writing.
* Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) combined with positive team‑oriented attitude.
* Highly organized and detail oriented.
* Valid driver’s license with a clean driver abstract.
* Must be able and willing to travel for project work away from the home office.
