Applications are invited for the post of Quality Manager in the Business Management and Administration section of the Department of Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering (MPCE). We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and experienced individual with formal quality management training to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a quality professional to broaden your experience working in one of the biggest MPCE Departments in the UK.
Main duties of the job
This job offers a unique opportunity for a proficient Quality Manager to ensure that our department quality and governance processes are robust and effective. We have recently procured a new commercial quality management system which this role will be responsible for developing.
Key aspects of this job role are:
1. Delivery and management of the departmental Quality Systems and ensuring the Departments compliance and accreditation.
2. Co-ordinating work to maintain and develop a quality system that will comply with current regulations regarding quality standards including Peer Review and ISO 9001:2015 standards.
3. Ensure continued departmental certification to the relevant quality standard(s).
4. Maintain an appropriate system of document management.
5. Audit management, risk management.
6. Maintaining the Departments clinical and scientific governance processes.

Job responsibilities
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
1. To be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the quality system, thereby helping to ensure the maintenance of the highest standards of care and service.
2. To participate in management meetings within the Department of Medical Physics & Clinical Engineering and the Clinical Service Unit to ensure quality management underpins all decisions, developments, and policies.
3. To liaise with the leads in each discipline to assign tasks aimed at delivering, implementing and maintaining a quality system designed to meet all prevailing standards and/or regulations.
4. To manage their own time and prioritise work in order to meet agreed targets and outcomes.
5. To oversee the planning, implementation and development of the quality system by bringing together team members from all disciplines.
6. To lead and train (where applicable) staff to conduct internal quality audits.
7. To supervise any staff assigned to assist with the quality system, where appropriate.
8. To give presentations and provide training where necessary to staff relating to quality management in the Department of Medical Physics & Engineering to promote quality issues across the organisation.
Person Specification
Experience
Essential
* Detailed understanding and practical experience of audit quality management and compliance including knowledge of quality standards and systems.
* Extensive experience in a Quality Management setting.
* Audit techniques and analysis of information.
* Involvement with successful service improvement.
Desirable
* Understanding of relevant healthcare science legislation and standards.
* Experience of Quality Management in a clinical or other safety critical environment such as a laboratory, aviation or nuclear environments.
* Knowledge and experience of commercial Quality Management software systems.

* Intermediate computing skills.

* Degree level or equivalent.
* Quality Management and service improvement training.
* Evidence of continuous professional development.
Desirable
* MSc.
* Recognised qualification in Quality Management or Physical Sciences or equivalent experience.
