Job purpose
As our Senior Backend Software Developer, you will play a crucial role in designing, building, and maintaining our modern booking platform. This role combines backend development, API integration, and system reliability expertise, providing an opportunity to significantly impact how partners and clients connect with our platform.
Key responsibilities and duties
1. Integration of partner APIs, ensuring secure, scalable, and reliable data exchange within our booking platform.
2. Design, build, and maintain backend systems in C# and .NET v8 to support partner and client integrations.
3. Collaborate with partners to understand their API specifications, troubleshoot issues, and ensure successful implementations.
4. Monitor and optimise the performance of API integrations, ensuring they meet Service Level Objectives for reliability and speed.
5. Implement robust error handling and recovery mechanisms to minimize downtime in API integrations.
6. Maintain API documentation and establish integration processes, including onboarding, certification and support.
7. Work with cross-functional teams to align API integrations with business goals and user requirements.
8. Adopt security best practices, ensuring compliance with data protection standards across API integrations.
Essential responsibilities and skills
1. Strong proficiency in C# and .NET v8, with a focus on building scalable and maintainable systems.
2. Comfortable diagnosing and resolving complex API and backend issues, from connectivity challenges to data inconsistencies.
3. Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with both internal teams and external partners.
4. Strong proficiency in creating clear, comprehensive API integration documentation for internal and external use.
5. Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, especially for deploying and maintaining API-related updates.
6. Dedication to delivering high-quality solutions focused on reliability, performance, and ease of use, while minimising unnecessary complexity.
7. Proactive and curious problem-solver with a commitment to understanding and resolving root issues, without over-complicating solutions.
8. Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, sharing expertise on API design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
Desirable responsibilities and skills
1. Comfortable with Azure Functions for serverless computing and efficient API handling.
2. Comfortable with systems at scale and multi-tenanted, multi organisational systems.
3. Familiarity with multicurrency implementation.
4. Familiarity with OpenAPI 3.0/3.1 standards for defining and documenting APIs.
5. Familiarity with using AI to improve software development productivity, we can provide ChatGPT + Copilot.
6. Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools, such as Bicep, for automating cloud deployments.

Salary: £65,000 plus benefits and opportunity to take part in the company bonus scheme
