The Nightingale and Prevent Breast cancer Centre, based in the South of the city at the Wythenshawe site is Europe’s first purpose-built unit with several key services that integrate a diagnostic and treatment pathway for all patients affected by breast cancer. The Nightingale Centre offers an integrated physiotherapy and lymphoedema service committed to forward thinking patient care, rehabilitation and improving patient outcomes for patients with often complex needs.
This exciting post offers a development opportunity for a dynamic and highly motivated physiotherapist to develop their skills in the management of breast cancer related musculoskeletal conditions which can be exacerbated by the risk and development of acute and chronic lymphoedema. The successful applicant will be fully supported by specialist staff and be willing to undertake training including a funded accredited lymphoedema course. Transferable skills in this innovative role will ensure we continue to offer excellent effective care to our patients, families and carers and we look forward to welcoming you into our friendly positive and enthusiastic rehabilitation team.
Main duties of the job
This is a joint Physiotherapy and Lymphoedema development post.
The postholder will work in the Nightingale Breast Surgery outpatient service which will include elective breast surgery patients, breast oncology and/or breast oncology related lymphoedema patients. The postholder will be a Physiotherapist willing to undertake additional lymphoedema accredited training.
To carry an independent caseload of patients with mainly musculoskeletal and post-surgical problems, and those at risk of developing or with mild to moderate lymphoedema. To deliver a high standard of physiotherapy, managing patients in an appropriate manner according to the area of specialty.

Qualifications
* BSc Physiotherapy MSc or Graduate Diploma in Physiotherapy
* HCPC registration
* Evidence of CPD
* Member of CSP
Experience
* Previous Post graduate clinical experience
* Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Supervision and education of less experienced staff, assistants and students
* Broad range Band 5 post graduate experience in a rotational post
* Involvement with audit and research
* Experience working in MSK and/or oncology
* Knowledge of community lymphoedema and physiotherapy services
* NHS Experience
Skills
* Ability to organise, prioritise and delegate
* Good analytical and problem solving skills – clinical reasoning
* Effective written communication skills e.g. clinical records and reports
Knowledge
* Understanding of clinical governance and its implications for practice
* Well developed contemporary theoretical underpinning knowledge of physiotherapy
