Dermatology Nurse Manager Band 7, 30 hours per week
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a Dermatology team across two different sites.
You will be expected to provide effective clinical leadership to facilitate the delivery of patient care without supervision. Ensure that the highest standard of care is delivered to patients in the Dermatology department providing continuing assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of nursing care. Provide expert nursing advice to the MDT, and co-ordinate a training programme for nursing staff.
This job is based at Hilltop Heights but will require nurse management and leadership to be shared across the West Cumberland Hospital dermatology team also by effectively prioritising the demand.
Main Duties of the Job
* Provide excellent clinical leadership and management skills to ensure the effective delivery of excellent patient-focused care and resources within the remit of the department and within the parameters of agreed Trust policies and guidelines.
* Lead the multidisciplinary team in improving patient services/access within the ward.
* Lead, establish and demonstrate practice based on current advances in nursing practice and research.
* Lead the continuing development of the department philosophy.
* Lead and actively participate in ward meetings, ensuring equity of opinion.
* Devise and plan duty rota, maintaining safe staffing levels and skill mix within the clinical setting. Provide expert support to the nursing team to ensure use of evidenced-based practice.
* Manage a delegated budget for the department. Actively manage the budgetary implications of decisions.
* Lead in the recruitment and selection of staff for the ward. Ensure that there is a robust appraisal/PDP process in place for all staff. Actively manage staff attendance and absence, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring adequate cover to ensure continuity of patient care. Address attendance issues.
* Provide leadership in monitoring and achieving Trust targets.

Qualifications
* Registered nurse with current registration
* Management/leadership certificate or equivalent experience
* Recognised teaching qualification and proven ability to provide clinical education
* Postgraduate certificate in management or equivalent
* Further relevant postgraduate development or equivalent
* Post-registration certificate in clinical speciality or equivalent
Knowledge
* Continuing professional development with portfolio
* Practice requirements for all nursing staff
