The successful candidate will join a friendly and enthusiastic team including clinicians, highly experienced Nurses, Specialty Registrars and fellows, dedicated ambulance technicians and the Emergency Bed Finding Service (EBS). Our Paediatric Intensive Care Unit supports a wide range of medical and surgical specialties, major trauma, education and research. We are the regional centre for paediatric surgery, with a 13-bedded PICU and a 40 cot neonatal unit. Paediatric cardiac surgery, paediatric transplantation and craniofacial are the only subspecialties not offered on site.There are close links with the University Department of Paediatrics and the Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the Neonatal Transport Team. The Paediatric Retrieval service is co-located and integrated with the neonatal transport service and is operational 24/7, 365 days a year covering the East of England. The Paediatric team have now completed more than 1000 transfers since inception in April 2021. CUH, together with Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Foundation Trust and Cambridge University are well on the way in developments to build a new Cambridge Childrens Hospital on the Addenbrookes campus. This will include a fully integrated physical and mental health wards, a 16-bedded PICU as well as dedicated University space for paediatric research. Work is underway with the building expected to open in 2028.
