Polypipe Building Products are focused on delivering solutions to the residential sector. Polypipe Building Products works with national and local developers, plumbing and heating engineers, general builders and groundworkers to deliver above and below ground drainage systems, rainwater solutions as well as hot and cold plastic plumbing products. Overview: To support the Health, Safety and Environmental team and predominantly assist the HSE Advisors with coordinating relevant awareness events, including continuous improvement activities, implementation of safer working practices and training colleagues on written processes. The role will primarily focus on the high priority aspects of HSE legislation which includes, but not limited to: Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work, onboarding of new recruits, agency staff etc., ensuring training is delivered and monitored. Deliver on machine safety by ensuring PUWER assessments are completed and reviewed periodically through the use of collaboration with various departments. Key Responsibilities: Take an active role in supporting the advisors on all matters of Health, Safety and Environmental compliance. Support Front-Line Managers (FLM’s) on all legal requirements ensuring the business always remains compliant and audit ready. Support advisors and managers to encourage a positive safety and environmental culture including promoting best practice and sustaining momentum for continuous improvement. Support the advisors with the upkeep of the departmental improvement plan, compliance and NCR tracker. Work alongside Managers in writing and continually reviewing risk assessments and safe systems of work. Conduct PUWER assessments and review PUWER documents. Update all departmental Health and Safety boards. Inform the Learning and Development department of training needs (FLT operators, Fire Marshalls and Crane users etc). Conduct level 2 audits. Co-ordinate SSW training (including refresher) with Department Supervisors. Manual handling training when required. Lead department H&S meetings alongside department Managers, providing minutes and distributes. Control of COSHH. Obtaining updated COSHH MSDS and update the SYPOL system. Control machine safety check sheets for the purpose of 45001 audit. Provide support with data inputting and monitoring and management of the online accident / incident reporting system. IFS transactions. Note taking at meetings and actioning follow up requirements. Assist with low level incident investigations ensuring incident data and supporting documentation is logged onto the reporting system. Comply with company and statutory Health and Safety, Environmental and other policies, and procedures. Skills & Requirements: Experience of working within a Health, Safety & Environmental role. Knowledge of HSE legislation. Knowledge of environmental standards. Experience of writing risk assessment reports and safe working processes. IOSH Managing Safely qualification or willingness to undertake. PUWER (Machinery) Awareness qualification or willingness to undertake. The ability to influence and encourage people to follow processes and guidelines. Working knowledge of Microsoft office, including Excel and Outlook. IFS working knowledge.
