Job Summary
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Clinical Fellow (Registrar level) to join the Trust on a 12-month fixed term contract working within the Microbiology & Infection team based at hospital site.
Typical duties include Clinical Microbiology/Infection consultations, liaison & advice, daily infection ward rounds, laboratory bench rounds, report authorisation, infection prevention & control liaison, antimicrobial stewardship activities/ward rounds as part of the Microbiology/ Infection team, under the supervision of a duty consultant.
The appointee will be expected to attend and actively participate in Departmental and other teaching sessions. It is expected that the appointee will assist with the teaching of undergraduate medical students and postgraduate junior doctors. This post provides a broad experience in the clinical management of Infection. Previous appointees have progressed from this post to further their careers in Infection Specialty roles.

Essential
1. Clinical microbiology or Infectious disease experience
2. Have evidence that their present level of achievement and
3. performance is commensurate with the totality of their period of training.
4. Demonstrate an appropriate knowledge base.
5. Ability to apply sound clinical judgements to problems.
6. Experience of Microbiology & Infection patient management
7. Experience of laboratory work - including research relevant to medical microbiology or virology
Desirable
8. Experience of Educational Supervision, teaching skills,
9. developing Infection or Microbiology teaching and training programmes
10. Evidence of relevant academic and research achievements, prizes, awards, publications etc.
11. Experience of the practice of clinical governance and audit - specialist and multidisciplinary
12. Experience of clinical specialties where there is a significant component of infection, including infectious diseases, haematology/ oncology or ITU or HDU
13. Knowledge of specialist areas such as infection control
14. Publications in peer review publications
15. Presentations or Posters at conferences
Qualifications
Essential
16. MBBS/MBChB or equivalent medical qualification
17. Full GMC registration
18. Evidence of completion of CMT or equivalent
19. FRCPath part 1 or equivalent
Desirable
20. MRCP or equivalent
21. General medicine experience
22. Infection/microbiology related
