Junior OR Senior Engineer
Salary: GBP25,000 to GBP50,000 (dependent on experience) + discretionary bonus
Hours: Flexible working hours (Mon-Fri, 40 hours/week) with core hours of 9:30am to 3:30pm

Our client is a leading designer and manufacturer of bespoke special purpose machines and automated equipment, providing and supporting many machines in the UK and around the world. We are now recruiting for engineers, at either engineer level or junior engineer level, who will work with Senior Engineers on projects to support the design, build and commissioning of equipment for clients. The work is spread over mechanical, electrical and control engineering while the types of machines vary across applications and industries.
The Role:
As an Engineer, you will be involved in a range of projects from concept to completion, working closely with Senior Engineers to ensure every stage meets both technical standards and client expectations. Your key responsibilities will include:
* Collaborative Development: Work with Senior Engineers and cross-functional teams, participating actively in the design, development, and delivery of projects.
* Technical Specifications and Drawings: Interpret and apply technical drawings, design specifications, and standards to bring projects to life, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
* Project Schedules and Documentation: Prepare, track, and report on project schedules, ensuring all documentation adheres to relevant regulations (BS and EN standards, Machinery Directive, CE regulations).
* 3D CAD Design & Prototyping: Use 3D CAD software (SolidWorks) to create detailed designs, develop test rigs, and oversee prototype builds.
* System Testing & Commissioning: Engage in product commissioning, acceptance testing, and hands-on assembly, guaranteeing every system meets our quality benchmarks.
* Research & Cost Analysis: Source innovative solutions, estimate costs, and manage budgets to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness in project delivery.
What You’ll Bring:
Ideal candidates will combine technical expertise with a structured, organized approach. Essential skills and qualifications include:
* Educational Background: A degree in engineering or an equivalent qualification.
* Industry Experience: Exposure to automation, product handling, or special-purpose machinery within industrial manufacturing.
* 3D CAD Proficiency: Skilled in 3D CAD software (preferably SolidWorks) and capable of interpreting 2D engineering drawings.
* Control Systems Knowledge: Basic understanding of electrical control systems and familiarity with PLC programming (a plus).
* Project Management & Communication: Strong organizational and communication skills, adept at liaising with teams, clients, and contractors.
* Flexibility and Mobility: Willing and able to travel nationally and internationally as needed.
