Coleg Sir Gar have an exciting opportunity for an Administrative Assistant based at our Graig Campus in Llanelli. This is a temporary role covering maternity for 37 hours per week where you will work 8:45am to 5pm Monday to Thursday, 8:45am to 4:30pm on a Friday.
Our Graig Campus is the largest of the five campuses of Coleg Sir Gâr and is based close to the village of Pwll on the South West Wales coast in Llanelli. With views over the neighbouring Gower peninsula, the Campus is a great place to study/work with a range of facilities.
There is a great feeling of community and vitality at the campus brought about by a mix of enthusiastic students studying different disciplines. Also based at the campus is Sir Gâr 6, the College’s A-Level facility which includes the More Able and Talented (MAT) programme and the Sports Academy which provides sporting opportunities for elite athletes in a range of sports.
What will you be doing?
The Administrative Assistant will work as part of our Campus Office to provide an efficient and knowledgeable service to all learners, staff, and visitors. Some of the duties may include reception, answering the telephone, and other general administration.
Administration assistants work very closely with a range of staff across our campuses where they process college vehicle bookings, internal room bookings, and reporting of staff/student absences. In terms of financial responsibilities, some tasks may include issuing petty cash, banking, and collection of various College income such as registration fees and DBS payments.
What do you need?
To be successful, you will need relevant administration experience and experience of using Microsoft Office or similar systems. Ideally you will have a good understanding of the issues and developments in further and higher education, however, this is not essential.
Due to the nature of the role and having access to sensitive information, administration assistants are required to maintain strict confidentiality and work with diplomacy and tact. Good analytical skills, being able to work under pressure, and a high degree of self-motivation.
