Job overview
The Domestic Services Zone Coordinator is responsible for providing operational leadership to the ward-based services Team Leaders for both Domestic and Catering services, ensuring the promotion of high-quality patient care in a complex acute setting.
The post holder will be accountable to the Assistant Facilities Manager for the respective zone and support the department in the delivery of national, regional, and local directives in an ever-changing NHS Landscape.
The post will provide effective leadership to the ward-based services Team Leaders and domestic and catering workforce, ensuring the delivery of an efficient and effective, value for money, customer-focused environmental decontamination and general cleaning service and the ward-based food and hydration service to meet the needs of our patients, visitors, and staff.
To lead on the implementation of any service developments which impact upon the operational ward-based services or general cleaning service, particularly the outputs of the Ward Based Services Review, National Standards of Cleanliness 2021, and the Food Services Review.
To develop and maintain excellent working relationships with key stakeholders such as the IPC team, Catering Management Team, Clinical colleagues, Estates colleagues, and any external providers of services or goods.
To ensure adherence with the Trust's PROUD values.
Main duties of the job
To be responsible for the first line management of the Domestic and Food and Hydration Team Leaders, working at ward and department level within a defined area (zone).
To be proficient in the application of the National Standards of Cleanliness and the National Food Review ensuring that service levels are aligned to and meet required standards and legislation.
To be responsible for ensuring that the quality of work activities undertaken by the designated team (domestic or food and hydration) are monitored using written and IT based systems, through audit and that these are in accordance with response times and KPIs.
Constantly monitor working practices and review service delivery to achieve optimum performance in order to reduce costs and improve service provision across the responsibility area (zone).
To be proficient in the use of the Trust's cleanliness audit tool. Create, manage and report on cleaning audits for own area ensuring that the required number of audits are undertaken in line with the agreed frequency per period.

Person specification
Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE grade 4/C or above or equivalent qualification/experience.
* ILM Management certification or equivalent experience.
* Food Hygiene Level 3 or equivalent experience.
* Demonstrable commitment to personal development.
* Evidence of workplace learning such as customer care / health and safety courses.
* NHSP Leadership Academy Courses (Edward Jenner / Mary Seacole).
Knowledge & Experience
* Extensive staff management experience in a large organisation.
* An understanding of financial management including budgets and expenditure.
* Experience in staff management and supervision, incorporating recruitment and selection of staff/management of sickness absence and HR matters in line with policies and procedures.
* IT Literate, knowledge and experience of using bespoke software packages and MS Office packages.
* Ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines.
* Experience of working with and building effective working relationships with staff of all disciplines.
* Experience of producing staff appraisals/development plans.
Further Training
* In-depth knowledge of domestic and catering services within the NHS.
* Evidence of keeping up to date with (NHS) domestic and catering services legislation and best practices.
* Demonstrable leadership and communication skills.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Good interpersonal skills, self-motivated and able to work on own initiative.
