We are currently looking for our future Cost Accountant who will be based in Wabtec, Birkenhead.
Who will you be working with?
You will be reporting to the Senior Finance Manager.
How will you make a difference?
As a Cost Accountant, you will develop strategies to protect margins through ensuring the costing system is up to date and accurate. Perform audits to establish movements between forecasted and actual margins are achieved and investigate variances to standard costs and help identify and implement solutions.
What do we want to know from you?
1. You will either be qualified by experience or part/fully qualified (ACA, CIMA, ACCA).
2. Experience in a manufacturing environment is desirable but not essential.
3. You are an expert in costing systems and principles.
4. You have experience working with ERP systems (Experience with Movex is advantageous).
5. You can collaborate effectively across different business functions.
6. You can work autonomously or as part of a team.
7. You are fluent in English (writing, reading, speaking, listening).
What will your typical day look like?
1. You are responsible for managing and updating the costing system, including conducting the annual cost roll-up within the ER system.
2. You need to provide finance support to business/project managers from project appraisal through to their completion, including post-project contribution margin evaluation.
3. You must investigate variances to standards, assist in identifying solutions, and implement them.
4. You are required to forecast contract margin by product line and analyze and report on sales and the order book.
5. You must perform month-end activities ensuring group reporting timetables are adhered to and assist with external audit information requests.
6. You are tasked with monitoring and reporting on key performance indicators.
7. You should collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth operations and compliance with financial planning objectives.
