The opportunity:
Are you interested in developing software for some of the most cutting-edge defence and aerospace projects in the UK? If you like the sound of developing software for projects such as a 6th generation Stealth Fighter jet or a revolutionary Laser Directed Energy Weapon, then Leonardo would like to hear from you.
We are looking for experienced software engineers to join our well established software community at our Edinburgh based site as well as in our brand new Newcastle office. You will help us continue our industry leading contribution to projects in our Radar, Advanced Targeting and Surveillance teams.

What you’ll do as a Software Engineer:
1. Develop embedded software, using RTOSs such as VxWorks or embedded Linux.
2. Deploy software to multi-core or distributed hardware platforms.
3. Work alongside systems and hardware engineers to develop working embedded solutions.
4. Use C++ and other object orientated languages.
5. Work to airborne software design standard RTCA 178C and coding standards such as MISRA C/C++.
What we need from you:
6. Industry experience in the full software lifecycle.
7. Current or past industry experience in using C++ and/or C.
8. Experience in OOD (Object Oriented Design) techniques.
9. Working and delivering software using agile techniques such as Scrum, and tooling such as Jira / Confluence / Bitbucket / Gitlab.
Demonstrable experience in the following areas will help you stand out:
10. Model driven development and configuration management toolsets.
11. Experience in developing software for embedded systems.
