Your purpose:
1. We are looking for a range of staff who will take on either Chartered, Senior or Principal Geotechnical Engineering roles in our Ground Engineering business. We are looking for staff who can fill key roles in complex geotechnical projects with minimal supervision, develop their experience and support the wider AtkinsRéalis practice as we develop our team.
2. The successful candidates will be expected to hold a key role in our Geotechnical and Numerical Modelling Technical Discipline teams. These form the core of our technical capability, ensuring that AtkinsRéalis continues to push the envelope of our geotechnical design and modelling as clients continually demand more from us.
What you can bring:
1. A good academic background with an engineering degree and ideally an MSc or PhD in a subject.
2. Experience in performing numerical modelling with advanced numerical modelling software (e.g., FLAC / FLAC3D, PLAXIS 2D / 3D etc.) and analyzing results.
3. Experience in validation of geotechnical numerical analysis and numerical model calibration.
4. Experience in the process of geotechnical numerical analysis within an interdisciplinary project environment. A desire to drive digital innovation and further AtkinsRéalis' capability in advanced geotechnical analysis and design.
5. Excellent communication skills and confidence to liaise with clients and engineers from other disciplines. Good report writing skills with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work.
6. Good interest in coaching and mentoring junior colleagues within the Geotechnical team. Willingness to travel on short assignments both within the UK and overseas.
7. Working towards or holding Chartered status and a valid UK driving licence.
The following qualifications are considered desirable:
1. Detailed understanding of advanced constitutive soil models, parameter selection for undertaking non-linear analysis (e.g., dynamic analysis, Soil-Structure interaction, thermo-mechanical calculations including creep calculations).
2. Experience in programming (e.g., Python, C++) with a focus in geotechnical applications.
3. Proven geotechnical analysis and design experience in seismic geotechnical analysis and design including seismic design for shallow and deep foundations, soil-structure interaction, seismic deformational analyses, seismic response of dams and embankments, liquefaction assessment and ground improvement.

Security clearance:
This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK of 5 years or longer.
