We are looking for an outstanding Assistant Cook who’s passionate about food and wants to make a difference.
You’ll be working 40 hours a week, creating an excellent experience for the people in our care at Cygnet Storthfield House.
Cygnet Storthfield House is a 22 bed specialist high support inpatient rehabilitation (level 2) service for men in Derbyshire. The service is dedicated to providing a high quality environment for promoting long-term recovery.
From the moment an individual arrives, the teamwork with them to maximise positive outcomes and recovery, while focusing on discharge plans to enable the individual to move on to the least restrictive environment for them. For some individuals this could be independent living, for some who need additional support, we provide a step-down service, 15 The Sycamores. This 4 bed step-down gives the men we support an opportunity to continue on their journey, whilst still being supported by the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) at Cygnet Storthfield House.
By combining a collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach, we deliver high-quality care using our unique 4 stage model of care for our mental health high support inpatient rehabilitation (level 2) services.

Your day-to-day...
* Assist in the preparation of balanced, appetising meals
* Perform cooking tasks & other kitchen duties
* Ensure the cleanliness of the kitchen, service areas & dining room
* Wash utensils, dishes & make sure they are stored appropriately
* Rotate stock & put away all deliveries
* Maintain personal hygiene to comply with Cygnet standards and food hygiene regulations
* Handle, maintain & store kitchen equipment in accordance with Cygnet procedures
* Use chemicals in line with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations

You are...
* Experienced in catering, preferably within a care setting
* The holder of a food hygiene certificate, with good personal hygiene standards
* Enthusiastic, keen to learn & an active team member
* Polite & professional, with a positive attitude at all times
* An excellent communicator able to liaise with people at all levels
* Diligent & take pride in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness
* Able to work on your own initiative, as part of a team & under supervision
