Job Specification: Registered Children's Home Manager
Total Package: £60,000
Base Salary: £43,000 - £45,000 (depending on experience)
Bonus: £15,000 (based on 95% occupancy)
Location: Walsall
Role Overview:
As the Registered Children's Home Manager, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality care and support to children and young people, ensuring their well-being is prioritized. You will lead a team with strong motivational leadership, advocate for the children, and ensure the home meets all relevant standards and legislative requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
* Implement and adhere to the home’s Statement of Purpose.
* Manage the day-to-day operations of the residential home, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
* Maintain a care service meeting or exceeding the standards outlined by the SCIFF.
* Ensure the safeguarding of children’s individual rights, providing care that respects diversity and promotes inclusion.
* Develop a strategic plan to deliver high-quality, clinically informed practices.
* Support and oversee staff to ensure the highest standards of care are met for the children and young people.
* Coordinate and monitor casework, administrative functions, and evaluate performance standards.
* Assess the needs of children and develop individual care plans.
* Lead recruitment, vetting, and induction processes for new team members.
* Contribute to staff training and development to ensure the team has the skills necessary to meet the needs of the children.
* Maintain and promote professional development through continuous learning.
* Promote staff retention and good organizational culture.
* Foster positive relationships between staff, children, and stakeholders.
* Liaise with internal and external teams, ensuring care needs are met for all children.
* Chair meetings, reviews, and discussions as needed.
* Uphold professional ethics and ensure appropriate behavior among all staff.
* Provide guidance, support, and coaching to staff.
* Manage, appraise, supervise, and support the residential team.
* Organize duty rotas to ensure children’s needs are met at all times.
* Ensure adherence to the company’s financial and administrative policies within budget.
* Maintain medication administration processes in line with legal standards.
* Collaborate with other managers to meet the emotional and physical needs of the children.
* Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies and complete all required documentation.
* Promote therapeutic relationships between staff, children, and families.
* Maintain a clean, safe, and well-maintained home environment.
* Participate in corporate and management activities as directed.
* Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, safeguarding children for up to 52 weeks.
* Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring children’s privacy, dignity, and independence are respected.
* Assess and meet children’s health, social, and personal development needs.
* Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams to monitor and implement individual care plans.
* Manage staffing levels, including on-call and off-site support.
* Stay informed of legislative changes and relay relevant updates to senior management.
* Ensure best practices and consistency within the home.
* Oversee medication administration, health, safety, and risk assessments.
* Liaise with families, professionals, and local authorities as needed.
* Ensure adherence to all policies and update them as required.
* Manage data, record-keeping, and communication processes.
* Promote equality, diversity, and children's rights in line with statutory requirements.
* Conduct regular audits and reviews to maintain high-quality service standards.
* Ensure supervision and development of all staff.
* Manage delegated budgets, ensuring compliance with company procedures.
* Lead recruitment, training, and performance management of staff.
* Fulfill on-call responsibilities.
Qualifications & Experience Requirements:
* Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care Services (Children and Young People’s Residential Management).
* Level 3 in Residential Childcare or equivalent.
* Full driving license.
* Experience working with children with learning disabilities.
* Minimum of 2 years of experience in a senior or management role in a children's home.
* Proven track record of leading a team to deliver high-quality care.
* Knowledge of Ofsted regulatory standards and inspections.
* Experience conducting staff supervisions.
* A minimum Ofsted rating of "Good" in previous roles.
Special Conditions:
* The successful candidate must be approved by the appropriate statutory body, which requires full Ofsted registration in line with specified conditions and timescales.
