How You'll Make a Difference
As a Library Assistant at our Kingswood and Hanham libraries, you will support the delivery and promotion of the Library Service within our local community.
What You Will Be Doing
1. Daily, you will assist with providing and delivering service such as services to children and older people as well as assisting with requests and enquiries.
2. Using the library management system and self-service equipment, you will help the public to use IT and information resources.
3. You will be required to handle cash and card payments.
4. Regularly, you will prepare new materials and maintain stock.
5. It will be key for you to ensure the service point is organised and tidy, including assisting with promotions and displays.
6. You will take part in a wide range of promotional activities and outreach work with all ages, including active involvement in rhyme and story times, undertaking craft sessions, hosting reading groups, organising author events, making school visits and visiting community centres.
7. You will need to undertake the physical aspects of the job including shelving and counter work, lifting and carrying of books and other materials.
What We Need From You
1. You must have a minimum of three GCSE passes at Grade C/Level 4 or above or equivalent including maths and English.
2. You can demonstrate an understanding of equal opportunities in the delivery of services including an ability to work with people of all ages and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers.
3. You shall have experience of using ICT equipment, applications and internet.
What You Need To Know
1. This role is primarily based at our Kingswood Library alongside 2 Tuesdays a month at our Hanham Library.
2. This role is part-time working 14.25 hours per week. Salary is pro rata to hours worked.
Interviews will be held on 12th March.
