INSIGHT INTO THE ROLE The Commercial Finance team plays a critical role in our business, partnering with senior leaders and their teams to provide insight on performance, clear and accurate forecasting, and support on strategic initiatives. This helps to ensure our commercial success and achieve our mission of ‘helping every household make the most of their money’. Reporting to the Finance Business Partner, the Finance Analyst will be a close and trusted financial partner, embedded within the vertical team providing financial reporting and analysis that will aid decision making. This role will provide detailed relevant insight into vertical performance and its drivers, helping the vertical to optimise performance and achieve growth targets. HOW YOU'LL SPEND YOUR DAY Acting as a strategic partner and value driver with the vertical team, focusing on value creation and growth Operate strong trading process to deliver advanced insight analytics and drive action to improve commercial performance, helping the business make the right decisions in response to rapidly changing trading conditions Creating and improving the financial reporting required to trade the business, reviewing with stakeholders and updating as the business develops Acting as a trusted partner, whilst balancing the need for independence and challenging thinking and process when needed Identifying the key underlying drivers of performance in order to lead the business through the planning process (annual budget, quarterly reforecasts, month end close and longer-term strategic planning) Key role in the planning process, including continuous development of the Anaplan forecasting tool Involvement in a broad range of project work such as the analysis of and input into business cases for new products or business models, detailed analysis of performance to identify problem areas or opportunities for maximising profitability Developing a detailed understanding of the vertical business model, and the underlying commercial factors be able to interpret and interrogate performance Representing the vertical on ensuring data integrity and acting as a steward, working closely with the Data and BI teams to resolve incidents and improve data Working with commercial teams on new propositions, renegotiations and promotions, analysing data to create recommendations that deliver the best returns for the business Working with marketing teams ensuring of efficiency of spend and appraising new options for investment Providing strong support to the vertical finance business partner and deputising where appropriate WHAT VALUE YOU'LL BRING TO THE ROLE Professional accountancy qualification, most likely CIMA or ACCA or qualified by experience Advanced user of Microsoft Excel High level of accuracy and attention to detail Proven ability to work with and analyse large amounts of numerical data. Ability to manage multiple projects/ support different areas simultaneously. Ability to manage own workload and conflicting priorities including stakeholder management. A real focus on the customer and on ensuring that everything we do delivers a great outcome for our customers Experience of analysing and interpreting data in a commercial context. Experience of stakeholder management at different levels of the organisation. Comfortable with challenging the business on complex, data driven decisions Experience of working in a retail or online business.
