ASSISTANT LIBRARIAN
Salary: £32,296 per annum, rising to £32,546 from 1 March 2025
Newnham College is seeking to recruit a full time, permanent Assistant Librarian to join the Library team. The Assistant Librarian provides professional support and assistance to the College Librarian and plays a central role in the day-to-day running of the College Library. Duties are varied, and the Assistant Librarian has an involvement in most areas of the College Library’s service delivery and management. The Assistant Librarian is the senior member of staff in the College Librarian’s absence and may be required on occasion to deputize for the College Librarian. The Library team also has an Early Career Librarian, employed on a fixed term contract, a full-time College Archivist, and a part-time Curator.
This is a permanent, full-time post, working 37.5 hours a week. The post is paid at point 36 on the University’s single salary spine, which currently is £32,296 per annum and which will increase to £32,546 from 1 March 2025. Flexibility is required as there may be the occasional need to work additional hours which normally will be recompensed by time off in lieu or in some circumstances, the payment of over time. This post is pensionable under the College’s attractive contributory pension scheme, with a current employer contribution rate of 14.5%, holiday entitlement is to 33 days per year (inclusive of bank holidays), a free meal when on duty, free car parking when available and free use of the College’s gym facilities.
