Role Overview
As an SEN Teaching Assistant specializing in Autism Support, you'll provide essential support to students with autism, helping them thrive in a nurturing and structured environment. Working closely with class teachers and the SENCo, you'll adapt lessons, provide one-to-one support, and foster positive learning experiences to help each child build confidence and independence.
Key Responsibilities
* Offer tailored, one-to-one support for students with autism, adapting tasks and resources to meet individual needs
* Collaborate with teachers and SEN staff to develop strategies that help students overcome barriers to learning
* Create a calm, supportive classroom environment that encourages positive social interaction and engagement
* Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as needed
* Promote independence and build student confidence through consistent routines and structured support
What We're Looking For
* Experience working with children with autism or other special educational needs, ideally in a primary school setting
* A patient, empathetic approach, with excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for SEN support
* Knowledge of autism strategies, sensory needs, and best practices for supporting children on the autism spectrum
* Strong organizational skills and the ability to adapt to the dynamic needs of each student
* A proactive, positive attitude, and the desire to make a meaningful impact on each student's journey
