Job summary This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled, experienced and enthusiastic CBT Therapist/Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join EPUT's Psychological Services for mothers, birthing people and their infants. We are pleased to offer an 8a, 0.2 wte, 9 month secondment or fixed term contract with the Essex Perinatal Mental Health Service (PMHS). This role provides the opportunity to build new skills in perinatal mental health and to apply knowledge and experience from other mental health settings. The service delivers high quality support and intervention to mothers and birthing people, their infants and their families. PMHS consists of five perinatal hubs with a staff mix comprising of Nursing, Psychiatry, Psychology and as well as specialist posts bringing nursery nursing social work and OT expertise. The service works with the perinatal and early year's stakeholders having established strong relationships with maternity, health visiting, secondary care mental health services and primary care services providing streamlined, timely and effective care for mothers and birthing people in the perinatal period. This post will be in North East Locality (Colchester, Harwich and Coastal towns). Main duties of the job The Perinatal Mental Health Service provides maternal mental health and wellbeing support to mothers, birthing people and their infants across Essex. Pregnancy and the transition to parenthood are recognised as a time when mental health difficulties and relationship stress can occur. Experience of pre-existing trauma as well as trauma during the perinatal period can have a significant impact on the experience of becoming a parent Psychological interventions which are specific, effective, and valued by parents can support them with such difficulties; reducing distress and health care costs, whilst increasing physical and psychological wellbeing. The main duties of this role will be to deliver specialised evidence based psychological assessments and interventions to mothers and birthing people presenting with significant mental health difficulty and complexity.
