Location: Based at Pitcairn Centre, Glenrothes and working predominantly in Levenmouth

Are you passionate about the impact of outdoor learning & learning for sustainability? We are looking for an experienced, self-motivated, partnership-orientated and enthusiastic individual to lead the development and delivery of ‘Explore Outdoors’, our Levenmouth outdoor learning improvement programme. Start date subject to funders' permission.
About the role:
The Explore Outdoors Officer will be placed within the Conservation and Engagement team, reporting to the Education Manager. This role will support delivery of a large scale and diverse ranging group of projects within the River Park Programme, part of the Leven Programme. You will work toward the following objectives:
1. Support schools and teachers to improve frequency, range and quality of outdoor learning experiences offered.
2. Promote place-based, experiential learning approaches.
3. Climate Education and Learning for Sustainability is being promoted and progressed across Levenmouth cluster.
4. School grounds are better equipped to maximise outdoor learning opportunity.
You will be working with schools predominantly in the Levenmouth area of Fife. Working directly with senior leadership teams, teachers and other education staff supporting the whole school journey into taking curricular learning and play outside, while utilising and developing school grounds. You will deliver a bespoke approach based on needs identified when working with specific school communities. You will deliver training based on the needs identified in each school. This role will be central to supporting a whole school approach to Learning for Sustainability, part of FCCT’s climate change education approach.
You will bring with you the following skills and experience:
1. Educated to SCQF Level 9/10 (degree) or equivalent practical relevant experience.
2. Experience of working within the Third Sector and/or development work with voluntary and community groups.
3. Experience working in a school / education setting.
4. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage internal and external relationships effectively whilst engaging with a wide range of stakeholders.
5. Experience of balancing operational with strategic priorities whilst delivering projects with maximum impact to deadlines and with limited resources.
6. Working knowledge of mental health challenges.
7. Ability to motivate and develop others and manage quality and performance utilising strong leadership skills.
8. Experience of planning and delivery of monitoring and evaluation utilising the suite of Microsoft applications.
9. Working knowledge of outdoor learning core principles and education improvement methods.
10. Highly innovative and experienced in designing new systems and processes.
11. Understanding of social inclusion policies and agenda.
12. Working understanding of Learning through Landscapes approaches.
