This is an exciting opportunity for a creative artist with a keen eye for detail and a passion for building high-quality props that bring game worlds to life. As a Prop Artist, you’ll work closely with designers and other artists to create realistic game assets, optimizing them for performance within Unreal Engine. Role Overview: As a Prop Artist, you will be responsible for designing, modeling, and texturing props and environmental assets that contribute to immersive game environments. Your work will range from intricate set pieces to everyday objects, each crafted to align with the artistic vision and technical requirements of the project. Ideal candidates will have strong modeling and texturing skills, experience with Unreal Engine, and a solid understanding of how to balance visual detail with performance requirements. Responsibilities: Design and create high-quality 3D props and environmental assets for Unreal Engine. Collaborate with designers, artists, and technical teams to create assets that enhance gameplay environments. Model, UV map, and texture assets, paying attention to form, color, and material properties. Optimize prop assets for performance, ensuring efficient use of memory and processing resources. Maintain consistency in art style and quality across all prop assets. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to prop assets within Unreal Engine. Develop and maintain a library of reusable assets for use across different environments. Conduct quality checks and iterate on assets based on feedback from team members and QA. Document and organize assets for easy access and integration within the team. Stay up-to-date with industry tools, techniques, and best practices for prop modeling and texturing. Participate in creative discussions, contributing ideas that enhance visual storytelling. Work closely with the lighting team to ensure assets are cohesive and look great in the game environment. Requirements: 4 years as a Prop Artist in a games studio. Proven experience as a Prop Artist, with a portfolio showcasing 3D assets and textures. Proficiency in industry-standard software, such as Maya, Blender, ZBrush, and Substance Painter. Experience with Unreal Engine, including material creation and asset integration. Strong skills in prop modeling, texturing, and UV mapping. Solid understanding of color theory, material properties, and lighting principles. Experience with optimizing assets for memory usage and performance. Ability to work within a specified art style and adhere to quality standards. Strong attention to detail and a passion for creating immersive worlds. Knowledge of LODs (Levels of Detail) and other optimization techniques. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to take constructive feedback and collaborate effectively within a team. Familiarity with real-time rendering techniques and the latest industry trends is a plus.
