We are looking for a passionate and personable self starter to lead our front of house team and oversee delivery of events across Science Creates’ two central Bristol facilities. We are an expanding organisation - we are in the process of building our third incubator in central Bristol, and we need your passion, proactivity and dedication to continue to expand our impact in growing Bristol’s scientific ecosystem. The opportunity As the Front of House and Events Coordinator you will lead our expanding front of house team (currently 3 people) working across each of our facilities to deliver a consistently high quality of service, and presenting our communal spaces to a high standard. Customer experience is important to us- you will be responsible for ensuring our members receive an outstanding service at all times, from overseeing the CRM based onboarding processes, administration and updates of our members portal, to seeking and acting on feedback from our members on how we can improve. You will be responsible for the delivery of our strategic events, external hires, and meeting space bookings. Our events range from internally planned community events, to corporate events delivered for external customers. This will entail liaison with catering suppliers & our external cleaning company, working to an event brief and budget set by the customer, providing a professional hands on service to deliver on the brief, and having a presence during the event to react and respond as the event pans out to ensure its success. You will be responsible for the smooth operation of the bar in our Old Market facility, which is opened to our members once a week on a Thursday between 16:30-20:00. There is a small team that works in rotation to deliver this, however you will oversee and be responsible for all aspects of the bar operations, from adherence to licensing laws, to staff rotas and stock management, to promoting the space as a fun and well loved asset for our community. What we need you to bring to the role: This is a hands-on people facing role, involving often being on your feet serving our members and visitors. We are looking for someone with: Experience leading a team in a customer service/hospitality/event organisation environment is essential. Reliability, proactivity & attention to detail- you will have a desire for continuous improvement and a passion to make Science Creates a place people love to work Professional with good communication skills, the ability to deliver and host both community events that bring our members together, and external events to a brief supplied by customers A positive and charismatic attitude that builds trust and enjoyment amongst members and customers. The ability to confidently manage expectations and make firm decisions regarding requests, especially if they compromise our ability to offer a consistent quality of service A solid grasp of finances- for example, having a comprehensive understanding of the true costs to deliver events and operate the bar, and costing appropriately. A flexible approach to your working hours as per event requirements. Our events only take place on weekdays, we operate flexible hours and TOIL systems to compensate for any additional hours worked promoting a good work/life balance Tech savvy and able to pick up new software quickly- experience using Google Drive, Air Table, Canva and Nexudus would be beneficial (but not essential). A personal licence would be desirable, but not essential. Training can be provided to obtain one.
