Hays are representing a leading utilities company to recruit a Communications & Engagement Executive in Belfast. This is an opportunity to lead and contribute to the advancement of a critical component of the energy infrastructure. This is a 3 year fixed-term contract (with possible extension or permanency subject to funding and business needs).
Your new role
As Communications & Engagement Executive, you will deliver our client's public engagement and project communications for their network infrastructure programme. This dynamic and demanding role involves representing a key infrastructure provider to various stakeholders, including communities, media, elected representatives, and council officials.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Planning and executing comprehensive communications activities, encompassing community and stakeholder engagement, media relations, public affairs, and digital communications.
* Collaborating with external partners and consultants to achieve communication goals.
* Working closely with the grid infrastructure team to develop and implement community consultation and communication plans for client projects.
* Engaging with the community through pre-planning application consultations, managing websites, handling regional media, running digital/social media campaigns, and organising community events.
* Enhancing and improving the company's engagement strategies for developers, communities, councils, and other stakeholders.
* Supporting broader corporate communications activities as needed.
Given the nature of this role, you will need to be flexible with working hours, including evenings and weekends, and be available to assist with out-of-hours issues management when required.
What you'll need to succeed
* A third level qualification in a related discipline (communications, planning/built environment, politics, journalism) or 3 years' experience.
* 1 years' experience in similar roles.
* Experience of developing compelling communications content to promote a particular project or initiative.
* Demonstrable organisational and planning skills.
* Good written and oral communication skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills along with a demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
* A basic understanding of energy and infrastructure.
* A passion for local community.
* A full clean driving licence.
Desirable Criteria:
* Experience of organising events.
* Experience working in or with local communities.
* Knowledge and experience of local government and the planning system

What you'll get in return
Salary of £32,000-£36,000 per annum depending on experience, eligibility for annual performance related bonus, private medical insurance, competitive pension, a variety of salary sacrifice schemes (e.g. pension and cycle to work) together with hybrid working arrangements (3 days office: 2 days working at home), competitive holidays and complimentary lunch, car parking and electric charging points on site.
