Job summary Due to significant growth in the last year or so, TPC is now further developing its organisational infra structure and responding to new service development opportunities. TPC already holds contracts for the delivery of Dermatology and Minor Surgery services, and the provision of clinicians into the Bradford Enhanced Access Service. We have a Pharmacy Hub with clinicians working on behalf of Primary Care Networks (PCNs) and offering a Warfarin service to practices. The TPC Pharmacy Hub provides a supportive training platform for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians working in Primary Care. Pharmacy staff are integrated into the primary care team in PCNs. We aim to provide training opportunities to pharmacy technicians and pharmacists from under-graduate to senior level and offer a wide range of career development options from education and mentoring to front line primary care provision or specialist services. Main duties of the job The pharmacy technician will support the role of the pharmacist to deliver the Primary Care Network model of care, including supporting and assisting a cluster of GP practices. The purpose of the role is to lead improvements to maximise safe and cost-effective best practice in prescribing to improve the quality of patient care. The post holder will help patients to get the best from their medicines by switching medications to agreed and approved protocols, improving repeat prescribing processes in general practices, including promotion of repeat dispensing and online ordering, minimising clinical risk and aiming to reduce wasted medicines. In addition, the post holder will be responsible for encouraging the development of better understanding of the principles of medicines optimisation throughout the practice teams and promoting good practice in line with therapeutic developments.
