Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Design Engineer to join a dynamic team. The role involves generating designs and associated documentation to support pre/post-customer contracts and internal R&D activities. You will play a key role in developing high-performance mechanical components, ensuring the highest design and manufacturing standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Undertake conceptual and detailed design work for bearing tenders, contracts, and new product development.
2. Produce and manage models and engineering drawings using CAD systems.
3. Utilise company databases to promote the reuse of existing designs.
4. Perform performance calculations and structural strength assessments.
5. Participate in design review meetings and liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
6. Maintain component part records and generate necessary design documentation.
7. Ensure cost-effective designs while maintaining quality and efficiency.
Skills & Experience:
Essential:
1. Strong mechanical design background with sound knowledge of strength of materials.
2. Proficiency in producing technical drawings to recognized standards.
3. Skilled in the application of ISO limits and fits.
4. Experience working with cast, fabricated, and precision machined components.
5. Proficient in 3D CAD software (preferably Creo or Pro/Engineer) with 2D technical drawing skills.
6. Strong problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills.
Desirable:
1. Familiarity with international standards/directives for naval, nuclear, or hazardous area applications.
2. Basic understanding of hydrodynamic bearings.
3. Experience with Windchill, MathCAD, GTX, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office applications.
