Responsible for the recording and monitoring of cancer waiting times for the Trust. To work with clinicians and other staff to identify and implement processes for improving cancer patients journey. To work with the Head Patient Access to develop referral processes for suspected cancers across the trust. To provide reports to inform management of cancer waiting times monitoring and to assist in the development of the BI tool and reporting.
Main duties of the job
* To provide regular feedback reports to the relevant forums against cancer waiting times standards.
* Establish effective communication links for cancer waiting times across the Trust for all the cancer sites, interfacing with the various directorates.
* Management and ratification of data within the trust cancer database in preparation for upload to the national cancer reporting system and assist in the developing of software to support the collection of cancer data around the Trust.
* Ensuring that the WMCA Best Practice Timed pathways are adopted and adhered to within the trust by the clinical teams.
* To develop and implement protocols and documentation to improve the service.
* To work with the Head Patient Access in working with each tumour site to ensure effective multi-disciplinary working across the Trust.
* Support the Head Patient Access in providing a response to all information requests made to the Trust relating to cancer by external stakeholders.
* To be a member of the Trust's access group, cancer IT group, and network groups and to feedback changes or concerns in respect to cancer data collection.
* Work with Cancer Network organisations in developing and implementing a strategy for collection of national data to support waiting time improvement and clinical outcomes.
* Develop, maintain and adhere to Trust escalation policy, which is reviewed by the post holder and Head Patient Access on an annual basis.

Job description

The post-holder will efficiently and effectively manage the cancer waiting times data and on occasion assist with RTT queries. The post holder will be responsible for the collection, input and upload of all patient information in relation to the cancer waiting times and NCASP. The post holder as Cancer Data Manager will be responsible for being a contact with regards to the management of this system and attend meetings regarding this package. In addition to this the post holder will be responsible for creating BI reports and working closely with the information team to ensure that BI reporting is correct and timely.

Qualification and Professional Training

* Educated to degree level in a health/management related field or equivalent professional/clinical qualification or equivalent experience
* Appropriate IT skills - Microsoft Office, including access, power point

* Knowledge of Somerset Cancer Register

* Knowledge of hospital information systems.
* Good knowledge electronic information sources
* Knowledge of National Cancer Waiting times targets
* Ability to use trust information systems
