EAU & Ward 6 Health Care Assistant, Band 2, West Cumberland Hospital, 30 hours
An exciting opportunity to become a temporary Healthcare Assistant on the Emergency Assessment Unit, Ward 6 & SDEC at WCH. The secondment cover will be a 12 month fixed term contract.
The Emergency Assessment Unit is a 27 bedded Unit providing acute care to emergency admissions, soon to be transformed into Same Day Emergency Care unit and Ward 6 Short stay unit.

Main duties of the job
1. Assist the registered nurses (or other healthcare practitioners) in providing high quality patient care.
2. When trained and deemed competent, undertake clinical activities, using appropriate equipment.
3. Maintain patients’ privacy and dignity at all times and provide care in a compassionate and sensitive manner.
4. Be an effective part of the multi-disciplinary team contributing to the departmental objectives.
5. Continue to develop and maintain competencies in nursing tasks to maintain high quality safe care.
6. Contribute to housekeeping and other ward/department duties as required, e.g. general tidiness, replenish stock and ensure clinical equipment is clean, working and stored correctly.
7. Contribute to the work of the department by working under direct or indirect supervision of registered practitioners or assistant practitioners.

* National Care Certificate or commitment to complete as part of induction process.
* NVQ 2 in care (willingness to complete within one year of start date) or equivalent experience.
