International utilities organisation, specialising in high voltage design, construction, and installation projects ranging from 11kV up to 400kV seeks a highly skilled and experienced Civils Director, who will be responsible for the management and delivery of civil engineering works for HV projects across the UK. As the Civils Director, you will play a crucial role in overseeing all aspects of civil engineering activities, ensuring their successful completion within budgetary constraints and specified timelines. Responsibilities: - Reporting to the UK Managing Director, provide strategic leadership and direction for all civil engineering activities related to HV projects. - Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary teams consisting of engineers, project managers, contractors, etc., involved in various stages of civil engineering works. - Oversee the planning, design, procurement, execution, monitoring, and control of all civil works to ensure compliance with industry standards. - Collaborate with internal stakeholders (engineering teams) as well as external partners (contractors/subcontractors) to ensure seamless project execution. - Conduct regular site visits to assess progress against plans and resolve any issues or obstacles that may arise during construction or installation phases. - Monitor project budgets closely to identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality standards. - Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations throughout all stages of civil engineering works. - Develop strong relationships with clients/customers by providing exceptional service delivery while meeting their expectations. Skills: - Extensive experience in managing large-scale civil engineering projects within the utilities industry is essential. - In-depth knowledge of high voltage design principles and construction methodologies from 11kV up to 400kV is required. - Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage multidisciplinary teams towards common goals/objectives. - Excellent communication skills both verbal and written; ability to convey complex technical information clearly across different levels within an organization as well as externally with clients/partners/stakeholders. - Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities to address challenges in a dynamic project environment. - Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines. - Proficient in using relevant software/tools for project management, design, and documentation purposes. Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is required; a Master's degree would be an advantage. - Proven track record of successfully delivering civil engineering projects as a director or similar senior-level position within the utilities industry. - Professional certification/license as a Chartered Engineer (CEng) is preferred but not mandatory. - Familiarity with UK regulations, standards, and codes of practice pertaining to civil engineering works.
