Job Summary Senior System Engineer, involved into the design and the technical development of inertial navigation systems (either for the Industrial domain or for the Aerospace&Defence domain). Main tasks will be the analysis of customer requirements, the generation of the system architecture and the set of formal system requirements, the definition of the applicable methods for the requirements validation, the specification of the procedures required to verify the design, the support for the proper installation of the product into the target platform and the overall coordination of the system development, integration and qualification/certification activities, together with the continuous relationship with the customer for all technical aspects. Duties and responsabilities Define System Development Plans in accordance with the recognized standards (ARP4754, ARP4761) Organizing and ruling the documentation for the program development Define High level System Requirements and System Architecture Flow-down of requirements from system to items level (SW, HW, MECH, etc.) Review, gathering and analysis of low-level requirements for the various subassemblies and components (mechanical parts, electronic boards, optical and opto-electronics components, software and firmware (FPGA) modules), configuration parameters) Static and dynamic analysis of IMU performance Define together with the relevant departments the system integration and test of INS/AHRS/IMU with complex software and hardware System qualification management according to widely recognized standards, such as DO-160, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461 Review and approval of technical design documents and data pertaining to the system under development Review and approval of acceptance test reports, qualification test reports, similarity analysis reports and all technical studies related to the system under development Timely release of all required deliverables for achieving on-time the contractual milestones, as indicated by the Program Manager Provide detailed task schedule to setup and updated periodically the Program Master Schedule (Gantt chart) together with the Project Controller Interfacing company departments, such as Engineering, Product Engineering, Prototype Manufacturing, Production, Quality Assurance, Procurement and Supply Chain. Participation in the definition of new products to support the company technology roadmap and the strategic marketing Evaluation of the technical specification included in the documentation package of the bid/request for proposal (RFP), to contribute to the preparation of the technical proposal and to the compilation of the requirements compliance matrix Acting as technical reference and main interface for the customer, in coordination and harmonization with the Program Manager Technical interface with subcontractors, in support of the Procurement office Qualification and skills Required Skills University degree in Electronics, Opto-Electronics, Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or equivalent Knowledge of avionics, navigation and related algorithms, control systems theory Knowledge of main communication interfaces and protocols (ARINC, RS, CAN, ecc.) Knowledge of ARP4754 and ARP4761 guidelines Knowledge of RTCA DO-160, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461 environmental/EMC test standards Knowledge of MathWorks MATLAB/Simulink Knowledge of requirements management tools (preferred IBM Rational DOORS) Knowledge of system safety concepts and reliability assessment (PSSA, SSA, FMECA, FTA, etc.) Knowledge of Microsoft Projects and Project Management Terminology Ability to lead and motivate the team Ability to work under pressure Ability to negotiate the priorities with other company departments Ability to adopt the proper communication attitude to be effective depending on the audience and context, within the technical team, with respect other company departments and top management, towards the customer Systematic and organized to manage project documentation and to keep track and archive every minute information generated during the system development Capable to perform in-depth investigation of system failures or anomalies adopting a multidisciplinary attitude Knowledge of English language (at least intermediate level) Preferred Skills Knowledge of reliability prediction standards (preferred MIL-HDBK-217F) Knowledge of model based design Candidates must be eligible to obtain UK security clearances Hopefully this will focus the responses better.
