Job summary Our Receptionists have the privilege of being the firstpoint of contact for patients and other associated services and clinicianscontacting the practice. Excellent written and spoken communication skills arekey in order to be able to deal with any request in the most appropriate andtimely manner. Experience in a similar role is essential, but either way youwill be part of an experienced and supportive team, and ongoing training isregularly provided. The medical receptionist must have the ability to provide cover, help and support to the patients and clinicians. An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality, together with excellent patient care and communication skills. This post is primarily for Danescourt Surgery but the successful candidate will be required to work flexibly across both sites as needed Main duties of the job Our practice receptionists are responsible for undertaking awide range of administrative and reception duties, including the provision ofgeneral support to the clinical multidisciplinary team. Duties can include, butare not limited to, greeting and signposting patients to the appropriatehealthcare professional or service (care navigation), patient registration,booking appointments, processing of information (electronic and hard copy) andassisting patients as required. You will act as the central point of contactfor staff and patients, the distribution of information, messages and enquiriesfor the clinical team, liaising with multidisciplinary team members andexternal agencies such as secondary care and community service providers. Receive and make calls as required in a professional and courteous manner, ensuring names and site are provided to patients on answering the telephone. In line with practice protocols, responsible for dealing with queries made by practice patients and allocating calls to the appropriate member of the healthcare team. Answering patient queries regarding medical results. Update patients records e.g. telephone numbers and address on each contact.
