Laboratory Operations Manager (Food Chemistry Testing)
Campden BRI is a leading provider of commercial analytical lab chemistry testing for food and drink. We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Operations Manager to support the day-to-day operations of our high-volume commercial food & drink testing laboratory.
Key Responsibilities:
* Quality Management System and Health & Safety: Adhere to and improve our Quality Management System and Health & Safety policies to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
* Client Service: Maintain excellent service levels for our clients and members, ensuring their needs are met and exceeded.
* Team Management: Support the Team Managers in efficient resource allocation, ensuring the laboratory runs smoothly and effectively.
* Equipment and Asset Management: Manage the equipment and assets of the department, ensuring they are maintained and upgraded as needed.
* Cost Management: Manage costs and support the department in meeting financial metrics, ensuring we remain competitive and profitable.
Laboratory Operations Manager Role:
* Team Leadership: Co-ordinate Team Managers and oversee daily laboratory operations, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.
* Workflow Improvement: Improve existing workflows and support in the LIMS upgrade, ensuring we remain at the forefront of laboratory technology.
* Team Development: Lead, develop and support Team Managers, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed.
* Quality and Health & Safety: Lead and champion quality and health & safety, ensuring our laboratory is a safe and healthy working environment.
* Operational Efficiency: Review and improve operational efficiency and best practice, ensuring we remain competitive and profitable.
* Laboratory Investment: Review, highlight and support business case development on laboratory investment needs, ensuring we remain at the forefront of laboratory technology.
Requirements:
* Leadership Experience: Experience of leading laboratory operations in a large volume commercial laboratory, including experience in managing team supervisors.
* People Management: Wide experience of leading people, creating clarity, coaching and driving performance standards.
* Analytical and Quality Requirements: Understanding of the analytical and quality requirements for the analysis of contaminants and nutritional components.
* Continuous Improvement: Demonstrable experience in the application of Continuous Improvement Principles to deliver operational improvements.
* Change Management: Demonstrable experience in change management, ensuring a smooth transition to new processes and systems.
* Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, ensuring effective working relationships with colleagues and clients.
* Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of the needs of the food and related industries would be desirable.
* Quality Management Systems: Experienced in the implementation of quality/business management systems and the requirements of the ISO 17025 standard.
* Science-Related Degree: Science-related degree (Chemistry degree would be an advantage).
