Langley Park Centre for the Performing Arts is a 500-seat theatre/concert hall located in Beckenham, South East London, within Langley Park School for Boys. We are a large, inclusive, over subscribed, 11-18 school with a co-educational Sixth Form.
Role Description
This is a part-time on-site role for a Theatre Technician. The Theatre Technician will be responsible for supporting all events within Langley Park Centre for the Performing Arts. The role is part-time, averaging 13 hours per week. Salary is £26,238 (full time equivalent for 36 hours per week). Contract is till 31st August 2026 with a start date as soon as possible.
Successful applicants will need an enhanced DBS check (which we will conduct) in order to take up the position.

Salary/Grade: NJC Scale 2, Points 3-4 £26,238 - £26,634 FTE 36 hours per week
Responsible for
* Liaising with staff, hirers, and promoters to ascertain event requirements.
* Arranging and carrying out site visits with clients.
* Coordinating and attending get-ins, fit ups, and get outs of events.
* Operating stage lighting, sound, projector and other technical equipment.
* Booking freelance staff as necessary.
* Ordering supplies for events.
* Advising staff and clients in the use of Theatre equipment.
* Ensuring safety standards are maintained.
* Liaising with the site team for equipment inspections and maintenance.
* Carrying out PAT testing and minor repairs.
* Supporting and mentoring students learning theatre technical skills.
Health & Safety
* Taking responsibility for personal health and safety.
* Carrying out and reviewing Risk Assessments for technical activities.
* Knowledge of the Rules of Management for Public Entertainment.
* Complying with the School’s Health and Safety policies.
Person Specification – Theatre Technician
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience of technical work in a theatre or public entertainment environment.
* Experience of operating sound and lighting equipment.
* Experience of working as part of a team.
* Experience of carrying out risk assessments is desirable.
Knowledge & Skills
* Strong interpersonal skills.
* Knowledge of lighting/AV/sound/staging requirements.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Ability to understand technical information.
Personal Qualities
* Initiative and ability to prioritise work.
* A positive attitude.
* A passionate interest in theatre and education.
