PODP/Senior Sister/Senior Charge Nurse Theatre Orthopaedic Scrub
An exciting opportunity has arisen to manage our Trauma and Orthopaedic team at Stockport NHS Theatres. The successful applicant will be skilled in Orthopaedic scrub, Trauma, and associated specialties. They will also have good knowledge of General, Urology, and Obstetric surgery.
This role will be responsible for the Loan kit office and budgets aligned to this. The role holder will work closely with their other band 7s, including the training coordinator, to ensure safe staffing is promoted at all times. This is a challenging role; however, full support will be given with a two-week supernumerary period afforded to embed themselves into the department.
Main Duties of the Job
In conjunction with the Head of Nursing, they will deliver the modernization agenda within their clinical setting, including effective leadership, setting, monitoring, and maintaining professional and care standards, working collaboratively, managing complaints as per Trust policy, and leading the nursing contribution to the governance agenda at the department level. They will be visible and accessible in the clinical area for patients, relatives, and staff. Lead by example and act as a positive role model for all staff, taking responsibility for their own professional development. Provide leadership that promotes patient-focused care. Maintain an environment conducive to education, teaching, audit, and training for patients and staff. Provide clinical leadership and line management of staff ensuring the delivery of the highest professional standards through staff development and individual performance appraisal/review. Role model standards of care and expected behavior through participation in direct patient care. Maintain personal standards of conduct and behavior, which are consistent with Trust, Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC), and HPC standards and requirements. Actively contribute to and support agreed developments within the Business Group. Identify equipment priorities to support the care of patients and staff in their physical environment, undertaking risk assessments to evidence the shortfalls. Ensure the efficient use of staff, monitoring quality and expenditure.

Job Responsibilities
The post holder has a key leadership and management role at a senior level and carries continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care, and the setting of standards of care within the in-patient theatres (Scrub). Ensuring as an expert practitioner in the peri-operative setting, high standards of care that meet with best practice are implemented.
They also carry continuing responsibility for the management of theatres, including the specific responsibility relating to relevant budgets, resources, and manpower. Ensuring that staff in their area have access to education, training, and up-to-date clinical skills as appropriate, in association with the Directorate's training coordinator. They must also ensure that their staff have access to equipment training and implement clinical governance issues in association with the department's clinical governance lead.
Post holders will be expected to participate fully in their personal development and review process, in order to achieve the skills required to deliver the role effectively and efficiently.

If successful, this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £54.50. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary.

Person Specification
Education & Qualifications
* Sound knowledge of scrub practice at band 6 level.
* Post-registration Scrub or Anaesthetic & Recovery course
* Evidence of a degree or working towards a degree.
* A Management Course
