We have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Electrician to join our maintenance team working at two University of Cambridge research and teaching facilities in Cambridge city centre working 40 hours per week from 08:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday. This is a foot mobile role across the two buildings on the site.
Key activities:
1. Reporting to the M&E Supervisor
2. Provide the safe operation, planned and reactive maintenance of electrical services plant and equipment
3. Carry out the installation of new electrical equipment as required, including minor new works, refurbishment, and capital works replacement programme
4. Investigate, troubleshoot, and rectify defects for all electrical systems and associated plant/components, or arrange specialist external staff or subcontractors if unable to do so
5. Experienced in all types of design and installation techniques with the ability to appraise problems and rectify them
6. Ensure prompt and accurate completion of all associated paperwork
7. Participate in the Appointed Persons role for an identified discipline
8. Work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 08:00 to 17:00, with a requirement to participate in the on-call rota
9. Hold a recognised electrical trade apprenticeship and/or relevant qualifications to level 3 (theory and practice) in a relevant electrical discipline with suitable industry experience
10. Competent Person L8 experience
11. Good communication skills, customer-focused with a proactive, flexible, can-do approach
12. In-depth knowledge of Health and Safety procedures
