Anderson Knight are delighted to be partnering with our client, a leading manufacturing business based in Kilmarnock, who are looking to appoint an Operations Manager.
The Operations Manager will be required to manage and coordinate the activities of manufacturing personnel to achieve production metrics including throughput, changeover times, minimizing downtime, and driving ongoing improvement, while optimizing the manufacturing process for increased productivity. Reporting to the Head of Operations, this person will ensure that all orders are manufactured and dispatched in a timely fashion and that all operational, administration, H&S, and business controls are adhered to. The ideal candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes with a proven track record in good manufacturing practice and lean principles.
Responsibilities
1. Ensure the plant meets its customer quality, service, and safety goals through effective management of the manufacturing unit.
2. Lead and manage assigned operations manufacturing and/or support functions at the site.
3. Manage, direct, and lead project team(s) established to develop and implement strategic change within the plant.
4. Maintain a safe working environment, ensuring that all H&S requirements and procedures are adhered to, including the reporting and resolution of all incidents or accidents and the correct use of specified PPE.
5. Establish strong working relationships with all departments ensuring a cohesive approach to delivery of budgeted metrics and other key performance indicators.
6. Ensure that all procedures relating to any aspect of product manufacture are fully implemented and adhered to, in line with customer and regulatory expectations.
7. Ensure that the material delivery and returns are in line with good manufacturing practice standards; correctly labelled, wrapped, stored, and transported.
8. Provide adequate resources when available for each shift based on the production schedule and ensure appropriate control is exercised on overtime spend and other production costs.
9. Continual compliance with the policies relating to personnel, quality, engineering, and safety.
10. Ensure that all manufacturing personnel are appropriately trained to carry out their role in an optimal way.
11. Recommend/implement improvements to standards and foster a culture of continuous improvement in production and safety.
12. Ownership for product procurement and stock contract.
13. Ensure the site uptime is maximized through a preventative maintenance program.
Experience:
1. 5 years’ experience operating at a similar level within a manufacturing facility.
2. Ability to engage with a design team to ensure manufacturing is optimized and on-time delivery is achieved.
3. Ability to engage and motivate production teams.
