Job description OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST (PAEDIATRIC) – FULL TIME/ PART TIME, BAND 5/6/7
Starjumpz is nationally renowned for its' excellence in providing multi-disciplinary assessment, treatment and support for children and young people with a range of neurodevelopmental conditions and mental health challenges. We offer a wide range of specialist services and pioneering therapies with a holistic approach from our centres in the South-East of England, Crowborough and Brighton, in schools and via online services.
The children we support have a range of neurodevelopmental conditions including Autism, ADHD, Sensory Processing Difficulties, Dyspraxia/ DCD, Attachment Disorder, Developmental Trauma, Developmental Delay and Cerebral Palsy.
In addition to Occupational Therapy, Starjumpz services include Consultant Paediatrician multi-disciplinary neurodevelopmental diagnostic assessments, Autism and ADHD screening and support services, Speech and Language Therapy, Neurofeedback, Functional Medicine, Psychological therapies, Psychotherapy, Play Therapy, Physiotherapy, Neurofeedback and Nutritional consultancy.
We provide assessment and therapy for Adoption Support and to support EHCP provision in schools in the South East.
Founded and run by an Occupational Therapist, the OT team are led by a South African trained Occupational Therapist with a wealth of experience working with children and young people, including Sensory Integration Therapy.
In Brighton Starjumpz currently offers Occupational Therapy, Sensory Intergration and Trauma Informed Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Psychotherapy. In February a Diagnostic Service will be launched for Autism and ADHD.
In Brighton, Occupational Therapy sessions are carried out in a well-equipped therapy space. This includes specialist sensory equipment, suspended swings for sensory integration therapy, therapeutic table-top work, fine motor and pencil skill work, ADL with kitchen facilities, play and leisure skills.
Occupational Therapy is also provided to schools in Kent and East Sussex during term times.
We are looking to expand and develop our holistic services and centres in Brighton with Part Time Associate positions available.
Term time working hours are available. We open on Saturdays and would consider Saturday only work for the right candidates.

You will be working with the multi-disciplinary team contributing to the development of integrated services for early years, children, young people, families, carers and schools with capacity for a developing adult provision. Delivery of family-centred therapy including the assessment and intervention for children and young people, aged 0 -19 in both clinic and school settings
· Provision of specialist therapeutic intervention with the ability to draw on a variety of approaches to ensure that each programme and session is unique to each individual child
· Caseload includes but is not limited to children with: Sensory Processing difficulties, Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD/ADD, DCD/Dyspraxia, Downs Syndrome, intellectual difficulties, neurological difficulties, developmental delays and other learning, emotional, social and behavioural difficulties
· Maintaining up to date Occupational Therapy records in line with professional standards
· Liaising with other health care professionals, carers and relatives as needed
· Provision of education and training
· Collaborative and joint-working with other professionals and relevant disciplines including Speech & Language therapists, Psychologists, Psychotherapists, Teachers, Physiotherapists, Paediatricians
BSc qualification in Occupational Therapy
· Relevant post-graduate training in evidence-based occupational therapy intervention approaches working with children and young people and/or working as a paediatric occupational therapist
· Experience in the assessment and treatment including Sensory Integration Therapy of children with a wide range of neurodevelopmental conditions and mental health
· Experience working within schools supporting EHCP provision
· Experience in providing education/teaching to therapists, health professionals and to teachers/schools and families related to therapeutic support from an OT perspective
· Clear and concise communication and report writing skills
· Car may be required for school, home and off-site visits
Band 6 – as above plus
· Postgraduate experience in paediatrics and in the use of a Sensory Integration therapy treatment approach and experience in provision of paediatric Occupational Therapy assessments. Minimum Module 1 training in Sensory Integration, Modules 2/3 highly desirable
· Independent undertaking of occupational therapy assessment, including complex cases. Band 7 – as above plus
· Minimum 5 years postgraduate experience in paediatrics
