Role Description
Lead and support the team in ensuring maximum utilisation of resources and equipment to achieve efficient production of Right First Time products. To deputise for Manufacturing Manager as required. This is to be achieved within the company quality, safety and environmental frameworks whilst developing a team working and continuous improvement culture.
Health & Safety & Environment
1. Ensure all staff are aware of the hazards in the workplace.
2. Ensure risk assessments and SOPS are available and in place.
3. Understand content of risk assessments sufficiently to monitor and ensure recommendations are being followed.
4. Immediately resolve all unsafe acts and conditions through to a safe conclusion.
5. Understand own and others' health & safety responsibilities as laid down within the Princes Foods Health and Safety Responsibilities for Managers and Supervisors guidelines and other statutory acts and regulations.
6. Proactively involve in Safety observation tours.
7. Carry out other Health and Safety audits/assessments in line with site schedule.
8. Encourage team members to submit near miss reports.
9. Ensure response to near misses and accident forms are acted upon against agreed timescales and managed through to completion.
10. Promote and support departmental FAST team.
11. Initiate accident/incident investigations immediately and manage through to completion within reasonably practicable timescales.
People Management & Development
1. Complete effective appraisals (EDR/PDR) of team members.
2. Continuously monitor progress against set targets and give constructive feedback to the team.
3. Carry out fair and impartial investigations (e.g. safety/disciplinary).
4. Conduct disciplinary notices according to site policy.
5. Manage attendance/absence to site policy.
6. Manage people through the agreed company policies and procedures.
7. Carry out return to work interviews for team on their first day of return.
8. Set targets and standards, regularly monitor progress, give and encourage constructive feedback from team members.
9. Train and develop team (including new starters) via regular training, coaching, and mentoring.
10. Develop team training plan and measure performance against this.
11. Promote team working by encouraging involvement from all employees.
12. Prioritise holiday requests.
13. Use SAP to accurately manage working time.
14. Ensure labour is planned to meet production/logistic demands.
Production / Logistics
1. Ensure authorised SOPS are available and used to achieve standardisation of tasks/activities.
2. Manage team to deliver KPIs, ensuring they are understood and aligned to business objectives.
3. Minimise costs through efficient use of resources.
4. Control costs and overheads in line with budget.
5. Operate to the agreed manufacturing/logistic plan.
6. Ensure all the team understand and work to required Good Manufacturing Practices.
Continuous Improvement
1. Lead continuous improvement teams and projects.
2. Track effectiveness of improvement projects and report on progress.
3. Support equipment and material trials and ensure all settings and procedures are documented.
4. Gather data and use it to identify opportunities for improvement and waste reduction.
5. Carry out root cause analysis of production/logistic issues.
Engineering
1. Ensure breakdown improvement actions are implemented.
2. Work with engineering to deliver an effective maintenance programme.
3. Ensure engineering resource within the team is deployed according to production/logistic requirements.
Quality Management
1. Ensure that all team understand and work to required quality standards.
2. Ensure all paperwork is completed in accordance with site quality standards.
3. Promote and deliver a Right First Time mentality.
4. Complete audits against agreed site schedule.
5. Manage assigned quality actions through to completion.
6. Participate and actively encourage others to attend taste panels.
7. Alongside Technical, ensure site is compliant against customer and accreditation assessments.
8. Ensure operation and functionality of CCPs are maintained and report any issues/concerns to Technical.
