Here at SPTS we design, develop, and manufacture high-tech machines for the global semiconductor market. Responsible for the growth of our world leading wafer handling and process systems, the Commodity department are a growing strong team who operate within the Operations group of SPTS Newport. The Commodity team is part of the Strategic Purchasing group and consists of Procurement Specialists, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering professionals. We are seeking an additional Strategic Buyer to join our team and support continued departmental and business growth!

Day to day responsibilities include:
1. Creating and implementing strategies to optimise the supply chain to deliver on direct spend cost reduction targets year on year
2. Develop a robust and agile supply chain that will support the continuing growth plans of SPTS, ensuring supply continuity as the business demand flexes.
3. Understand the overall group supply chain capability to potential synergy opportunities, creating regional sourcing models and identifying relevant suppliers within the regions.
4. Owning the lifecycle from demand to pay.
5. Achieving smooth handover of suppliers/products/agreements to the tactical purchasing team.
6. Tracking and improving against a backdrop of KPI’s aligned to internal and external customer requirements using analytical skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
7. Conducting supplier visits both internally and externally to audit suppliers within the UK and abroad to evaluate capability, capacity, and process control.

For this role we are looking for someone who:
8. Is a strong negotiator with a proven background in category management
9. Can demonstrate experience in supply chain strategic management
10. Have an in-depth understanding of supply processes to ensure that all opportunities for cost reduction are identified and delivered
11. Has knowledge of MRP/ERP systems with a good solid understanding of supply chain replenishment mechanisms, experience of SAP and Enovia (PLM) systems would be advantageous
12. Is target driven and pro-active with the desire to grow this role and support the development of a Commodity Team in its goal to be highly effective in developing the Supply Chain needs of SPTS
13. Can work as part of an effective team or as an individual who can both utilise and support the team around them to achieve the departmental goals and has strong and effective communication skills
14. Is a self-starter who will meet a diverse set of challenges in an efficient and effective manner, and who strives for excellence in project delivery. Confidence to gain credibility with internal customers and persuade people to change/move in a different strategic direction
Qualifications Summary:
15. CIPS or MCIPS qualified or degree equivalent is desirable but not essential
16. Good IT Skills (minimum Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
