The successful candidate will provide a proactive; responsive and professional engineering service to specific operational area within the Paper & Packaging business, in the most cost-efficient manner as part of the Engineering team.
You will be responsible for;
* Resolving engineering and maintenance issues during and outside operational hours
* Planning and implement maintenance to boost plant safety, performance, and reliability
* Scheduling and prioritise tasks (PPMs, corrective maintenance, modifications)
* Collaborating across disciplines and leverage other engineers' expertise
* Leading root cause investigations for breakdowns and safety incidents
* Maintaining plant machinery with hands-on skills and resource management
* Overseeing capital investment projects from planning to integration
* Ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and equipment standards
* Managing changes through updates to manuals, drawings, and processes
* Providing training on new/modified equipment for staff
* Organising internal/external resources to meet business needs at optimal cost
* Supporting product and process improvements, including for customers
* Covering for Engineering Leader and contribute to operational efficiency
* Staying current with job-specific training and personal development
* Analysing technical data to resolve plant issues and seek expert advice as needed
* Solving complex, non-routine maintenance problems and make informed decisions
* Adapting methods to meet operational needs, manage risks, and maintain site operation
* Working in both office and plant environments, often exposed to noise, chemicals, and machinery.
What will make you successful?
* Qualifications: Relevant HNC or equivalent qualification.
* Experience: Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
* Discipline Expertise: Trained in mechanical or electrical/instrumentation engineering with a good understanding of other disciplines.
* Maintenance Knowledge: Strong understanding of maintenance needs for machinery, equipment, and services in the operational area.
* Communication: Good verbal and listening skills to work effectively with operators and management on process improvements.
* Systems: Competence in using computerized maintenance management systems.
* Industry Knowledge: Experience or knowledge of paper manufacturing processes is advantageous.
* Planning & Problem-Solving: Ability to write detailed maintenance plans and solve complex technical issues through lateral thinking.
* Leadership & Influence: Able to lead teams, coordinate resources, and influence others in engineering safety, reliability, and improvements.
* Technical Skills: Interpret complex technical specifications and manage both personal and contractor work.
* Project Management: Oversee maintenance resources, project overhauls, and ensure optimal use of available resources.
* Autonomy: Work independently, often unsupervised, while reporting to an Engineering Leader and deputising when needed.
* Continuous Improvement: Demonstrates a commitment to daily improvements and increased machine availability.
* Adaptability: Evolve with the plant’s needs, applying new approaches to improve maintenance and extend equipment lifespan.
