The successful candidate(s) will either be a Registered General Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner with experience in Scrub.
Main duties of the job
A Registered Practitioner who will support the perioperative team by providing skilled scrub practice in the Ophthalmology and Local Surgery Unit theatres.
An ability to apply theory to practice to provide a high standard of perioperative care to all patients, ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to.
Willing to support and teach other members of the operating team.
Be able to lead a team in an operating theatre utilising excellent communication skills to ensure efficiency and expediency whilst ensuring safe and effective care.

Job responsibilities
Key Result Areas:
This post is for Theatre Services and will involve working in theatres at both Warwick and Stratford sites.
The post holder will be predominantly rostered to work Monday to Friday, although there may be periodic weekend operating planned as the service requires.
Clinical Responsibilities:
1. Act as a professional role model demonstrating clinical expertise in perioperative practice and assist in the setting and monitoring of professional standards.
2. Provide skilled assistance and care to patients in the operating theatre.
3. Assess care needs of the perioperative patient and develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care.
4. Demonstrate knowledge of current research, practices and procedures within the specialist field of theatre practice.
5. Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team, patients and relatives.
6. Ensure that patients' perioperative needs are continually assessed and appropriate care delivered and documented.
7. Supervise the work of junior staff ensuring quality and confidentiality are maintained.
8. Manage own workload and support others to do this.

Qualifications
* NMC/HCPC Registration
* Evidence of continuous professional development
Experience
* Experience in the perioperative environment, although new practitioners may be considered
Skills
* Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for patients in the operating room/anaesthetic room/recovery
* Demonstrates knowledge of evidence-based practices
* Able to effectively plan and delegate duties
