What you’ll be doing Support the Head of Financial Projects to effectively manage financial and regulatory projects, outside the monthly accounting cycle. Ensure the teams work effectively to produce accurate financial information on a timely basis. Ensure adequate financial controls are in place and that appropriate procedures are developed and maintained to minimise risks. Project manage and assist with the delivery of the external audit, ensuring a positive working relationship between parties and milestones are reached by an appropriate deadline. Manage expectations between external auditors and group wide staff to ensure the timely submission of requested deliverables. Support and assist the development of effective production of financial and regulatory returns, including the generation of accounting papers for the Group and other papers to be considered at board level. Assist the wider Group Finance teams with the preparation of financial statements and relevant statutory returns for the Group, bank and subsidiary companies. Ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements and play an active role in the development and reporting of new accounting standards or regulatory returns. Analyse and review data to identify areas of improvement in relation to financial accounting. Field inquiries from colleagues, auditors and stakeholders to ensure clear and concise financial information is promptly relayed. Support the teams with decision making and encourage team members to develop problem solving skills. Review the financial data and reporting processes to ensure the quality and accuracy of the financial records is being maintained to acceptable standards. About You What you’ll bring to the team You will have a strong understanding of financial principles, financial analysis, and financial controls, particularly as applied in the financial services industry. You will have the ability to analyse complex financial data, identify trends and make data-driven decisions is critical. You will have an in-depth knowledge of the operations of the bank and the products and services it provides is critical to applying meaning to the information being communicated. You will have a good awareness of the accounting, reporting, governance frameworks applicable to UK PLCs will also be developed as part of the role. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills are of paramount importance to ensure clear and concise financial information is relayed to team members and stakeholders. You will also need to be able to support and motivate other staff and to manage projects and your workload effectively. You will be able to identify and mitigate financial risks in order to protect the business from detriment while embracing change and ensuring the efficient adoption of new technologies to streamline processes will also be valuable
