Hours: 42 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 8:00am - 5:00pm, and Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm Pay: Dependant on experience annual bonus opportunity Location: Elland, HX5 9DX Role Overview The Site Manager will work in the project team under the leadership of the project leadership and will share the responsibility for the successful delivery of any given project to the client’s satisfaction and in accordance with I&G policies, procedures and cultural approach, known as Construction Excellence. Role Responsibilities Deliver a single team approach, working hand in hand with our internal team, subcontractors and design team and client. Motivate the delivery team and lead by example, embracing and conveying the pace and energy of the project to the delivery team. Share responsibility with the project team for the performance management of the supply chain, ensuring fair recognition of performance beyond expectations along with swift and appropriate measures to address underperformance. Maintain two way, honest and open communication with our customers and end users to create a continuous feedback loop to drive improved performance, and respectfully challenge when necessary and have the difficult conversations. Support the project team in achieving project completion and addressing any defects which may arise following completion. Support the project team to ensure the safe delivery of any given project, monitoring construction works (including sub-contractors) for compliance against control measures identified in risk assessments Co-ordinate safety documentation, review Method Statements and Risk assessments. Reporting all accidents, incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions (direct and sub-contractors) through designated methods, and implementing action as required. Undertake field weekly site inspections, and accompany Safety Advisors and HSE inspectors during site visits. Observe and implement the rules and systems, which are derived from the Health and Safety Policy and the arrangements for its implementation Work with the team to ensure the financial performance of any given project meets its targets, mitigating the impact of any loss of money through wasted time, materials or substandard installations which require re-work. Ensure the interests of the business are protected through the correct implementation of the contract between all parties. The Site Manager will support the team and ensure the design is buildable, fully coordinated in good time to allow a ‘right first time’ approach on site and is compliant with all relevant legislation and guidance in force at that time Work with the team to produce and implement short term planning and programming to ensure individual milestones are met in the project along with the overall completion. Support the project team through expectation management of the supply chain to ensure the project is delivered to our expected quality standard. Report all quality incidents (direct and sub-contractors) through designated methods, providing feedback on sub-contractor service quality, and implementing action as required. Ensure a ‘right first time’ attitude towards the work and achieve this through pre-start briefings with the supply chain and continual positive reinforcement as the work progresses, both in-situ and during regular coordination meetings. Ensure that contractor quality plans have been received and relevant inspections, hold points and critical checks are being carried out in accordance with the approved quality plan. The Site Manager will support the project team in achieving the environmental performance of any given project and will ensure there are no breaches in environmental law and the disruption caused by the work is minimised. The Site Manager must embrace and comply with the company’s Environmental Policy and Procedures along with a pro-active attitude in approaching matters concerning the work impacting on the environment. Reporting all environmental incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions (direct and sub-contractors) through designated methods, and implementing action as required. Prevent pollution, reduce waste and ensure, wherever practicable, that measures are implemented to protect and preserve natural habitats, flora and fauna. Take action to eliminate or reduce any potentially adverse environmental impacts The role responsibilites include, but are not limitied to the points detailed above. Requirements As well as exhibiting the Sewell Group behaviours of being a positive, professional and customer focused team player, that does the right thing, the suitable person will have the following: Essential: Hold a full driving licence, valid in the UK. Qualified at HNC level or above and hold a valid 5-day CITB SMSTS Certificate A proven track record in controlling and managing large scale construction projects including the management and coordination of subcontractors Experience in leadership and be able to demonstrate strong leadership qualities Previous experience working with programming and web-based document storage software A positive and professional attitude. Ability to work using own initiative but also as part of a close knit team. Excellent levels of computer literacy, and be fluent in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel. Have a proactive attitude towards delivering construction works to a world-class standard. Hold excellent communications skills and the ability to liaise with senior clients & subcontractors. Possess good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a variety of tasks. Possess a positive approach to learning, development and progression. Have a flexible outlook towards hours worked (some out of hours working may be required). Have working knowledge of current Health and Safety practice.
