The Space, Defence and Intelligence business unit in CGI is a true IT Systems Integrator. We work, build, and operate bespoke, technically complex, mission-critical systems which help our clients keep us all safe and secure. Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This role will be based in Leatherhead, Surrey on a hybrid working pattern.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
As an DevOps Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic team that works on a range of projects and programmes that aim to improve the quality and efficiency of our services. You will use your expertise and creativity to implement Infrastructure as a Code (IaaC) principles, scripting and development tools, version control, and cloud-like APIs. You will also manage and configure Windows infrastructure, SQL Server, MySQL, and Linux systems.
•Use PowerShell and Ansible to implement IaaC for provisioning, versioning, and deploying virtual machines on Azure Stack HCI.
•Re-deploy current programme tooling systems onto the new refreshed platform using automation (Ansible).
•Collaborate and coordinate with application (SDI) and infrastructure teams (GTO) to implement security controls, restrictions and hardening at all layers- e.g. application, network, IDAM, secret management while ensuring the controls and compatible with the testing requirements.
•Assist with capacity planning and forecasting to ensure storage needs for scalability.
•Support the wider FTR teams with infrastructure requirements and issues.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
•A proactive and collaborative attitude, with the ability to work well with developers and testers.
•A solid understanding of IaaC principles and how they can improve the reliability and agility of infrastructure.
•Proficiency in scripting and development tools, especially PowerShell, but also familiarity with other languages such as Python or Ruby.
•Experience of using Git for version control and collaboration.
•Knowledge and skills in Windows infrastructure management and configuration, including Active Directory, Group Policy, and PowerShell DSC.
•Experience or interest in additional IaaS skills, such as Terraform, Azure, or AWS.
•Experience or interest in cloud-like APIs, such as Azure Stack HCI or similar.
•Experience or interest in SQL Server, MySQL, or MariaDB administration and optimisation.
•Experience or interest in Linux or Red Hat administration and configuration.
